Is your social strategy a little “hit and hope?”. Is “mass emailing” and “mass connection requests working? Here is a view from a recipient…..

The onslaught of unsolicited connection requests continues abated. I am now getting at least 5 per day. Everyone is a lead generation expert these days. Or so it seems. Most are so good they don’t need to provide me with an introduction to who they are, what they do and more importantly what they can do for my organisation. Let’s forgive the niceties and rituals of a traditional courtship, straight in there as blunt as you like.

We are not there yet, We have not evolved, We have no respect, We have lost control, We are Going Backwards

At the risk of encouraging a Black Celebration about this, let’s try walking in my shoes for a moment. If you sit outside of the recipients network you are not known to them. There is no circle of trust. No policy of truth. Any communication is a random act. In short it’s no good.

Therefore you have to differentiate yourself from the rest. Your recipient’s time is precious. It start’s with your personal brand. Who are you? What are your values? What is your purpose? More importantly what have you helped colleagues with my challenges achieve? A slightly offbeat approach works, sometimes One Caress is all it takes for me to take notice and respond.

In the absence of this your success rates are going to be low. I am not alone in not even accepting the connection request in the initial instance.

So change the approach. Give me some attention. Show me some love. Seduce me into thinking you know about my business and my challenges. Make me feel you can help. A little research and reference goes a long way. People still buy from people whatever the medium.

I dream of a day, When I dare to believe, You’re the answer

In the absence of this, you really are reaching out to touch faith.

Where’s the revolution?, Come on people, You’re letting me down
